Internet Marketing Industry People I Respect… And Then The People I Don’t Really Care For!

Last week I made a bit of a ranting thread on WickedFire as a way to get some stress and other crap off my chest that had been bugging me for a while. I didn’t do it for linkbait, I didn’t do it to pick a fight, I didn’t even do it to entertain anyone but myself. I did it solely for the purpose of the fact that I have just been so sick and tired of reading the same shit over and over by people who don’t have a stinking clue as to how to really do what they say they do! I mean, there is only so much a person can take when visiting other blogs and then hear or see the same crap being posted all over the industry about how great or how unique this one guy’s advice or blog is, when really, it’s just the same shit, over and over and over again. It also turns out, that most people are sheep. It’s true, you can admit it if you know you’re one of those people.

Anyhow, so the three people I called out were Shoemoney, John Chow, and Amit Whateverhisnameis.  Most of the responses I got was that it was very TRUE and AMUSING to read. So no harm done right? I mean, if other people seem to agree, and take time out of their day to tell me so privately, then they probably mean it. But as usual, loyalty in the industry only goes so far. Because there are just SO many people that seem to say one thing to you, and then dart back and say another to someone else. To these people, I say go fuck yourself. Because they are what we call BROWN NOSERS or FRONT RUNNERS. They are the worst types of “friends” to have. Why you ask? Well simply put, they are like the Hillary Clinton of the US Presidential race, because they have no real ground to stand on, instead, they just tell you what you want to hear, or join the side of where the crowd is, pretending to be a loyal fan, but really, they are in it for themselves or just too much of a pussy to accept any confrontation or negativity on their own. These are types of people that make up the large majority of probably every industry. So whether you’re a veteran or just a newbie reading this, WATCH OUT.

I  can say one thing that will never change about who I am. I may come off like an asshole or as a bit of a prick, but I can assure you, when it comes to things that matter, like LOYALTY to friends or business relations, I don’t cross that line, unless someone does it to me first, and then I’ll give you one chance to make good on it, or onto my enemy list you go.

I mention this specifically because after that thread, Shoemoney was shocked and emailed me about why I said what I did, and how he was so shocked that I stabbed him in the back. Which I did not. I did what I did because for over a year already, I’ve been hearing over and over again how much shit he talks behind my back to other people we are both friends with, to either make himself seem better or to make me look bad (as if I don’t do enough of that shit myself!). I honestly don’t give a shit what people think about me, or about what I say or do. I feel as if I don’t have anything to lose since it has nothing to do with my personal or family life. Even if I lost all of my cash, assets, and properties, yeah, I’d be sad and upset, but it wouldn’t ruin me, because I’d get over it pretty quickly like I do with most things.. except people who fuck with loyalty in a friendship.

Well, this wasn’t supposed to be a giant rant, but I guess it turned into that because I don’t like to hold things in and be all nice and professional and FAKE like everyone else does. I like to get things out in the open and let people know that I’ll be the first to admit to doing something wrong and apologize about it (very rare though, jk).

Here are people I have a TON of respect for in our industry, in spite of what many people may think about me, these guys really do deserve credit for their accomplishments and some of them for their modesty and humility as a person and fellow “web celeb”: (in no specific order)

  1. Shawn Collins - Affiliate Tip & Affiliate Summit
  2. Danny Sullivan - Search Engine Land
  3. Brandon Feemster - My business partner
  4. Aaron Wall - SEO Book
  5. Andrew  Johnson - WebPublishingBlog
  6. Stanley Shilov - My business partner
  7. Andrew “Quadszilla” - SEO BlackHat
  8. Missy Ward - Affiliate Summit
  9. Heather Paulson - HPMG
  10. Mike & Dani Krongel & the entire Copeac team - Copeac
  11. Steve & Scott Richter, George, Pat, Jaz, Lou - CPA Empire
  12. Glen “Insomniac”, John “ILC/c0ck”, Jason “Smaxor”
  13. Kevin & his wife, and of course Auggie from XY7 - XY7
  14. The Entire Maxbounty crew - Maxbounty
  15. Shawn Hogan - DigitalPoint
  16. James “Jimmy Boy” Kupka - Vegas
  17. Joe, Alex, Mitch, Audrey, Brett, Chantelle, Erin, Adam - AzoogleAds
  18. Rebecca from SEOMoz - SEOMoz.org
  19. Darin & Brandy - Webmaster Radio

  22. Casey Cummings - The Bar
  23. Greg - BOTW
  24. The boys from JoeBucks
  25. Abby & Alexander - Hydra
  26. Everyone else who I wanted to mention, but my ADD got the best of my attention span..

So there.. See! I don’t hate everyone! There are a TON of people I wanted to add to that list but just couldn’t. Sorry guys! Most of these are people who have a mutual respect for and from me, regardless of what I say or do, they understand, but all of them are considered friends.

Now, to address something that I’ve never said before, and hopefully this will be the last time..

For everyone else that has bashed me, doubted me, or had anything negative to say towards me or WickedFire, why don’t you stop being giant pussies, and say it to ME or to members of WickedFire in person at a conference? I mean seriously, people are always such tough guys online behind the safety net on their computers, and then claim to be your best friend or “no hard feelings right?” in person. Well, screw that. If you have something you don’t like, SAY IT TO ME IN PERSON. I’m not hard to find. Most people know what I look like, and if you can’t find me, ask someone at a booth at Affiliate Summit West later this month in Vegas. I’ll be there at the Rio on Feb 24th-26th. So here’s your chance. Instead of bashing me and WickedFire on blog comments all over the place, or on other forums, why don’t you approach us, and tell us what you really think? I mean, I’m not going to do anything to you, nothing to be afraid of either. I’m just a regular Jewish guy from New York City, trust me, our ninja skills are nothing to brag about. As for the other WickedFire natives, well, goodluck to ya, and wear a cup.  If you decide though, to not approach any of us, that’s fine too, but then you will have to finally admit to yourself and maybe others, that you really have no credibility behind your statements, and that you’re better off just shutting up in the first place. Ya dig? Awesome.

See everyone at the show!

I admire you a great deal Jon, and this isn’t some bullshit brown-nosing crap - you’re the real deal.

The more people that know so called “gurus” speak out of their ass most of the time, the better.

Congrats on being one of the few who keep it real.

How could respect a couple of real posers like Shawn Collin and Missy Ward. Too arogant for their own good.

Another great post here. I can’t speak from experience on anything regarding affiliate marketing or blogging, because I have none (experience). However, I have been reading everything I can, and one thing I see, that I don’t like, is the same crap over and over, on one blog after another. I really don’t get anything useful either out of some arrogant ass bragging endlessly about how much money he makes. If you want to post about something you did that was successful, I’d love to read it, and thanks for taking the time to post it. But some of the stuff is nothing more than clutter.

P.S. Great site here, and THANKS for WickedFire. I’ve learned more there than at all other sites combined!!

    Jeff

I just found this post even though you wrote it a while ago. I was a ASW but must have missed you there. Shoe and John Chow are both gurus on Top Affiliate Challenge.

The whitehat guru is Ken McArthur. What do you think Shoe and Chow will do to beat him?
