Ranking Exploit Discovered on TWO Major Search Engines
I’m blogging about this only because none of my friends are online now for me to vent it to. The only reason I came across it is because I had some really radical idea (like most of my weird and sometime shady ideas) to gain a link on certain pages on ********** and ********** (10 asterisks for both so you don’t sit there trying to figure out which engines it is). I haven’t tried it with Google yet, but seeing as it’s SO simple, with the other two, I’m not sure Google is able to do it. So I repeat, Google is NOT one of them.
I’m guessing this is an exploit and/or just a really careless mistake made on the part of ********** and **********’s site developers. I’ve never really noticed anything like this before either, so it could be here one moment and gone another. Who knows. But while it’s here, I’m going to jump on it and use it for what it’s worth. It does NOT fall into any XSS or any type of hacking or hijacking of any sort, so I’m pretty damn sure it’s not ILLEGAL, but I’m still not sure how kosher it is overall, and being that today is Memorial Day here in the US, I can’t get ahold of my lawyer, which sucks, because it means I have to wait a whole day for him to get into the office.
I’m also not going to reveal what EXACTLY the find is either, because let’s face it, if anyone else would come across some type of way to get pretty much any link onto certain pages that the public, as far as I know, has never been able to get their sites onto, then this can be something pretty damn big. At the same time, if it were made public, then I can see how both ********** and ********** would be PISSED and quite frankly, I’d like to stay out of their legal department’s crosshairs, or at least before I hear from my lawyer about what I should or shouldn’t do, show/reveal or say.
Basically this allows you or anyone to put a direct link coming from a ton of VERY.. and I mean VERY high traffic area pages. I guess it can work as both a branding type of link placement as well as a traffic type. I’m not a coder by any means, hell, all I know how to do is HTML and CSS, and I’m not even that great at it (just the SEO aspects of it). So because I am retarded when it comes to anything really technical, I always need help from a programmer or coder. As far as I know, and if he keeps his mouth shut, there are only 2 people in the whole world that now know of this, and I plan on keeping it that way for as long as I can.
What I’m really curious to know is… Who the hell do these two giants employ over there that would allow such a silly and super obvious mistake to be made or go unfixed?! I mean, if this happened to fall into the wrong hands (not saying mine are the right ones), but for argument’s sake, if some top notch blackhatter got this, they would rape it four ways from Friday for sure. Granted, if they did that, it would probably be patched up pretty quickly, because it’s kind of tough not to notice pharma links or raped .edu’s.
Anyway, from a traffic testing point of view, I stuck a website with Adsense on it that was made up of 15 pages. Each page had one article of content on it, and 3 Adsense ads total. All of the ads were places in prime territory where clicks are pretty high. The type of site is a financial one, mortgage targeted to be exact, and in under 1 minute of putting the link up, I shit you not, there were over 2k uniques bombarding the site already. So I sat there thinking “alright, this is going to be taken down in a minute for sure, there’s no way this will go unnoticed”. Yeah well, it’s been over 24 hours already, not only is it still up and active, but the Adsense earnings are higher than I’ve ever witnessed in my entire life. Smartpricing here we come for sure! The CTR alone is over 60%, which is crazy. The revenue amount is over the $30k mark… and did I mention this is only from one site? The funny part is that by letting Adsense make the revenue from it is probably just the same as sticking an Adsense ad on these two engine’s pages, haha. Maybe I’ll switch to YPN and test it out with them too and see how it does as well. I was actually debating on just sticking in an Overture XML feed site, you know, the ones the arbitragers and parked domainers use, but I think that may just be pushing my luck, and so far, this has not only been one hell of a cool experiment, but a most profitable one as well. Over $30k in one day on one damn site, from 2 links! Hahaha!!
I know you’re probably thinking “what an asshole” or “this is linkbait” or even “Jon, I’m your friend, share it with me!” but I could care less right now, because I’m having way too much fun with it, and also with the fact that no one else knows about it. The only shitty part is I can’t use it with my blog or WickedFire because then people would find out fairly quickly. I can’t even 301 redirect them either because any webmaster with a brain will notice it way quickly, but then again, I don’t think webmasters are even that deep in these engines so I’ll let a few days and the six figure mark pass first and then give it a whirl if I get the okay from the legal end.
So what would you do if you were in my shoes with something so unrealized and so powerful and instantly profitable? If I find out from my attorney that it’s gray area, but legal, then I’m going to have a fucking field day with this, but if I find out that it crosses that line, then I’m not going to fuck with it at all, and probably go straight to ********** and ********** to let them know what’s up.
I’ll definitely be checking back later with news on this, because it’s just too fucking juicy to keep quiet about, and this better not get fixed soon either, otherwise I’ll be PISSED!

Must be a great feeling. Congrats and if I were you I would have 10 more sites like cash loan, auto loans, loan advance and som more and make it a $100,000 day….that’s 3 million this month
Oh…and it’s no luck..you work for it
you are such an asshole, Jon :p
OK cool, who’s deleting comments, I think one’s missing..
BTW Jon, what’s your CPC on mortgage?
Edwin: Don’t you think he already has that?
bullshit. . .
i think you are trying to see who from your “old good” friends is going to contact you begging for closer details . . .
if not . . . “the rich get richer”
so what kind of coding skills are required to do this? and… already 30k and counting from one site!!! FUCKing A man. but seriously, what kinda coding skills are needed to make this happen?
[...] Ranking Exploit discovered; I really wish I knew [...]
sorry but that is possibly the stupidest post i’ve ever read.
you know, two days ago i discovered a session handling bug on blogger.com and got a backlink in every profile on blogger.com - i made around $40k every hour for around a day.
exactly.
Remember to inform us once the bug has been fixed. In case someone out there keep finding…(yes, i am one of them)
When the lawyers gone, Jon shall play…
Well since you asked what would you do if you were in my shoes?
I would easily say I’m going to share this with Aequitas on AIM and since he is pretty good with the coding aspect, I’ll see what he thinks about it and see how he could exploit it more quickly to cash in on 100 or even 200 thousand per day until it gets shut down.
I don’t know about you but thats just what I’d do in your situation.
Now if that isn’t begging to know your secret then I don’t know what is.
Have a good one and enjoy your instant profits.
I call shenanigans on this.
Slam it man! Go for the gusto as long as you can!
good Luck!
nice linkbait.
oh and shoemoney hasn’t even wrote one line about it.
please post real stuff and not such a made up bs…
The Blackhat,
Your accusing Jon of a BS post when you clearly are implying that because the all mighty ShoeMoney (Joke) hasen’t wrote about it.
ShoeMoney isn’t a god in this market, and no one big player knows everything.
It’s true.. it’s 100% linkbait. I was trying to see what type of story would attract what types of comments and links. I even told some people who came right out and asked me if it was real or LB, and said “Linkbait”. No sense in denying it.
Auequitas, ask your mighty jon for what he posted this stupid article and if or if he did not say he does it to get a backlink from shoemoney.com - i never said i like shoemonkey… i actually dont like him.
Will you sell the ebook on how to do this?
You could discount it to $97 just for memebers.
Have you heard Webmaster Radio today?
Goal of the next show, get Lisa to say Fuck…
Have Fun with the Bait,
Mark
If this is not begging for it, I dont know what is.
Please share your secrets Jon.
The Blackhat,
It just sounded like you were implying that you were a loyal ShoeMoney reader. We all know once someone begins their loyalty they make it shine though.
As you can tell my loyalties lie with Wicked Fire.
The Blackhat,
Very nice hahaha
